Ghost Train – Elmhurst, IL
An invisible freight train barrels through Elmhurst on the railroad tracks every Tuesday morning at 3:30. You will hear the train and feel the vibrations but you can’t see it. Many years ago a train wrecked. It’s believed to be a residual haunting that was stronger a few decades back, but is still strong enough to be easily experienced today.
We are not sure on which tracks in Elmhurst this is referring too, there are actually two in town. Below is a list of known train wrecks we were able to dig up..

The picture below shows a wreck on the Union Pacific tracks near the Elmhurst stone quarry. It occurred on March 16th, 1967. Once again no injuries were reported.
Some other residents have remembered other derailments and wrecks over the years including; A coal train tipping over sometime in the 70’s near York Commons Pool on the IC tracks. At least two other derailments happened in the same location, including one around 1960.
One other report is of a wreck that happened just west of West Ave. sometime in the early 50’s. Sadly we are not sure which track that occurred on.
