Single Track Train Track
When I first heard of this haunting, it sounded almost like an urban-legend. It reminded me of your typical story of a lady in white roaming a cemetery. I wanted to dig deeper because I was skeptical, and because I only had this little tid-bit of information below to go by for 5 years until 2010…
“Reports of an apparition of a man with a lantern walking on the tracks and disappears.”
I didn’t even know where this location was until recently. After reaching out to learn more, I was able to get in touch with some people and hear their stories. The first person I spoke with shared that the male apparition is seen near St. Charles, but can also be spotted at York St. even.
Another persons elder family member had a group of friends witness it near while they were walking the tracks near St. Charles. The last person I spoke with told me his father shared the story with him of “a man walking the tracks with a lantern”. He also confirmed the spot being near St. Charles and also York St. like the other gentleman.
What’s interesting is these 3 different groups of people, all experienced the same paranormal happening at different times. Their stories all shared the same similarities which helped earn validity to this haunt. Having 3 groups of people witness it at different times is more crediting than having one larger group all witness it at once.
Location: St. Charles Rd. & Hawthorne Ave, Elmhurst, IL 60126 (Google Maps) Also seen at York St. & Meister intersection
