Park Jr. High School Hauntings

Park Jr. High School Hauntings

history:

The original building was constructed in 1901 to function as a nunnery for Nazareth Academy. An addition was later added in 1949. The school underwent further construction sometime in the late 1960s. Nazareth Academy moved out of the building in 1974, and Park Jr. High School took its place.

spirit activity:

During the years when the school was a nunnery, it was rumored that one of the nuns committed suicide. It’s not known exactly where the suicide took place, but it’s thought to have occurred on one of the upper floors of the building. It is said that she now haunts the school. Strange cold spots are felt, erasers mysteriously go missing, and disembodied voices have been heard.

But that’s far from the only occurrences that take place, as she makes herself known in many ways. Elevator doors open inexplicably, and lights will mysteriously flicker on and off. There was once a faculty member who was skeptical to the stories and asked the ghost to turn on the lights. That’s when the light directly above him started to flicker on and off, then suddenly the entire place lost power. The skeptical faculty member was said to be thoroughly spooked by the whole event.

Another story involves a staff member who worked in the main office of the school. He used the PA system to call a coworker in her office. He then received a reply back in an unrecognizable voice, saying that she wasn’t there. Startled and a bit alarmed by what had just happened, he quickly ran around the corner to her office. Once he got there he couldn’t believe it, her office door was locked and the lights were off. She had already gone home for the day. He was convinced he had just encountered the ghost of the nun.

An older teacher has said people will hear quiet noises coming out of the PA system at night. Just like in the instance above, the main office will be empty while the PA system is being used. It is said to sound like someone crying.

There was another time when some pictures were being taken and a ghostly image of a face turned up in one of the photographs. Upon noticing this they tried to rule out any natural explanations for the mysterious face showing up, but were unable to debunk the photo.

Other strange events include, the second floor bathroom where it is said an eerie feeling has been felt before. Unexplainable noises have been heard in this restroom while otherwise alone. There’s also an Art Room on the first floor that sees activity. Events taking place in this room include, Papers that have been known to “fly” around without any source of wind. Erasers often disappear without reason, and the sound of mysterious whistling is reported to have been heard.
